Behind the Scenes at Ontario’s Theatres

• The Ontario Nonprofit Network has an update on the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act.  Proclamation of the Act is at least two years away (with a three-year transition period to follow) and the technical amendments bill still needs to be passed. There is also a new technological system to be introduced for all registrations and reporting. In summary: the requirements for new by-laws for not-for-profits is at least five years away—and we still don’t know exactly what those requirements will look like.
• PACT’s federal election advocacy resources now includes a “Dos and Don’ts” regarding rules for charitable theatres and political activities.
