Theatre Ontario has extended the deadline for applications to the Judy Silver Scholarship Fund to May 21.  The Fund provides financial support for students attending our Youth Scene Study courses in Toronto and Ottawa.

Judy Silver Scholarship deadline is two weeks away

Youth who are seeking financial aid to attend our annual Theatre Ontario Youth Scene Study have two weeks to get in their applications for funding from the Judy Silver Scholarship Fund.

From June 26 to June 29, Theatre Ontario will be running its annual Youth Scene Study Program in Toronto and Ottawa.  Under the instruction of an experienced theatre facilitator, the participants will learn how to delve deeply into a script to find the nuances of character and relationship. They will learn to interpret scripts by exploring acting techniques to support the text and by developing the actors’ tools to increase communication, imagination, physical awareness and listening skills.  The course is for youth aged 14 to 18.

The application deadline for the Judy Silver Scholarship is May 3, 2010.

Helping to Subsidize Training For Youth

In every class that Judy Silver taught, there was always at least one deserving youth scholar who - not being able to afford the tuition - was invited to "come anyway."  That's the spirit behind Theatre Ontario's Judy Silver Scholarship Fund.

Created in 1998, the Judy Silver Scholarship Fund was established in her memory by her friends and colleagues in order to support young people who wish to attend the Theatre Ontario Youth Courses.  In 2010, students who wish to attend our Youth Scene Study Program in Toronto or Ottawa can apply for a scholarship from the fund.

Scene Study Training For Youth

Theatre Ontario is pleased to announce that our Youth Scene Study Program, first introduced last year, will be held again this coming June in two locations: Toronto and Ottawa.

This is a unique theatre training experience for youth aged 14 to 18, featuring four days of rigorous textual analysis and acting.  The courses will run June 26 to June 29, and financial support is available through Theatre Ontario's Judy Silver Scholarship Program.
