Northumberland Players Awarded the Elsie for Outstanding Production at Festival

Congratulations to Northumberland Players of Cobourg, whose production of Boeing Boeing by Marc Camoletti (translated by Beverly Cross and Francis Evans), was awarded the Elsie as Outstanding Production at Theatre Ontario Festival 2016 in North Bay.

The production received six awards and one honourable mention from adjudicator Mimi Mekler. The production also received the award for Outstanding Coordinated Production.

This is the first time that Northumberland Players has won the Elsie, and only their second time participating at Theatre Ontario Festival, representing the Eastern Ontario Drama League.

Theatre Sarnia represented the Western Ontario Drama League at Festival, presenting 33 Variations by Moisés Kaufman, and received three awards and three honourable mentions.

The Curtain Club, from Richmond Hill, represented the Association of Community Theatres--Central Ontario, presenting The Drowning Girls by Beth Graham, Daniela Vlaskalic and Charlie Tomlinson, and received three awards and two honourable mentions.

Gateway Theatre Guild, from North Bay, represented QUONTA (the northeastern Ontario community theatre association), presenting Curved by Kristin Shepherd. They received one award and four honourable mentions.

The annual Theatre Ontario Festival is a showcase of outstanding community theatre productions, a classroom for passionate, dedicated community theatre artists, a celebration of excellence in community theatre, and a destination bringing together theatre lovers from across the province.
